We want you to know how the site makes money.

Revenue

• Newsletter and site advertising — a small number of programmatic display units and one dedicated newsletter sponsor per week. These are labeled.
• Affiliate links — some product mentions link through affiliate programs. Where an article contains an affiliate link, it says so at the bottom of the article.
• Reader support — we plan to launch a paid tier later. It will not lock existing free articles behind a paywall.

Affiliate relationships

At present, none of our published articles contain affiliate links. If this changes, we will list active affiliate programs here and disclose the relationship on any article that uses one.

What we do not do

• We do not accept payment for placement or ranking.
• We do not accept payment to remove critical coverage.
• We do not review products in a way that trades editorial judgment for revenue.
• We do not run advertorial disguised as an editorial piece.

When commerce and editorial collide

If an advertiser or affiliate would gain from a piece we are considering publishing, the editor writes the piece without knowing which advertiser is currently in rotation. If a conflict is unavoidable, we disclose it in the piece.
